Williamsburg and racing...

I think I mentioned to many of you, that I was having a lot of trouble finding a place to stay in VA - both because of the NASCAR race this weekend and the fact that the Queen of England is touring the state of Virginia in celebration of the 400 years of Jamestown. I also sent out a notice through myspace, asking if anyone could help me out or knew of any places that I could stay. A guy named Alfred wrote, saying that a bunch of racing fans were headed down to watch the race at Richmond. If I wanted it, they had an extra hotel room and an extra ticket for the NASCAR race. And for once, things were exactly as they should be..... Here I sit in Williamsburg, in a great hotel, without the stress of trying to figure out a place to crash ..... He even gave me a ticket to the NASCAR race! My Dad used to take us to races. He was an Earnhart fan-till-the-end. When Dale died, Dad was so crushed that he locked himself in his bedroom and did not work for a week.  Met everyone at the bus at 3:30pm. There were jello shots on the bus (too many jello shots for 3pm), I hung out with Alfred.... We tailgated. Eventually the race started. We were in the nose-bleed seats. When the helicopters flew by, we were at eye level. The cars were like little toy cars, so tiny on the track .... Woke up this morning, cursing myself for being alive. I drank too much. I always drink too much. Even half dead, I pulled myself together for a shoot. My photographer traveled all the way from Fredricksburg to work with me. He sings when he is nervous (I think that it is endearing). He also loves random lines from movies and television sitcoms. I think that he broke out with the Gilligan's Island theme ten times during our shoot.

Did you have fun at the DISCO? I am pleased that you may use some of the images.

Take care during your journey. Oh you may want to try and shoot by the Roanoke Star.

Holla!
