They denied my claim...

As you know, my ATM card was stolen two weeks ago... I reported the card stolen as soon as I noticed (which was not quickly enough)  Over the course of two days and three different states (FL, NC, VA), they used my pin # and stole $580 from my checking account .... I filed a fraud claim with my bank, gave them all information I could - They said it would be two weeks before I heard anything...

Today I got a letter in the mail saying that the claim was denied.... When I called them to inquire as to why, they told me that even if I have documents that prove where I was on the days that the money was taken out.... The fact that someone used my pin # successfully proves that the claim is not fraudulent and I cannot get my money back...

... Everything is just so wrong in my life right now, I could not help it, I started crying...The guy felt bad for me - He did a little research, took some more notes, went in and re-opened the case - Told me file a police report because it will help my case, and also to collect documents that prove where I was that day....

I have been in such a dark miserable hole these last few weeks, it is like I have this cartoon black cloud following me around everywhere and I cannot shake it off... On a very positive note, I just want to mention here, that I really love you guys for trying to make things a little easier - The overwhelming flow of people sending donations has really helped a lot - The community on here is so fantastic, just a network of friends and people who say that this blog has inspired them in so many ways.... I never knew that these stories have touched so many people.  In the very least, if anything good comes out of this week, I know that I have a really great safety net of awesome friends on here.  Thanks for reading.  And thank you for being here for me...  because sometimes, especially this week, I really need it...

I'd recemmend going to a branch office & talking to them about it in person.

Mine (Key Bank) typically gives me a hassle or charges me fees (like when I lost my debit card & wanted a replacement) if its over the phone but are often will bend over backwards if you're there in person (like when some bugger charged a lot of money to some overseas porn site).

It also might be a tactic like the insurance companies where if they initially deny you, they're hoping you won't want to go through the hassle of keeping after them.

I know its easier said than done, but put your head down & keep moving forward. New month, better days ahead.
Remember, you need us, you got us.
Hope you are smiling again soon.

I agree with Semi.
The only way to get something like this done is to face the people in person and talk it out. That way, you're not just an account number.

Someone stole my bank account number via my debit card one time. I noticed charges for porn sites and music sites I'd never been to, nor would ever go to. I called the bank, went to one branch office and they said they wouldn't give me back my money.

I went to ANOTHER bank branch, this time it was the main office and (acted rather sick) and explained the situation and how the previous person denied helping me with my account. After this person agreed they were wrong and helped me with my account I made sure I got back all my money too. Which I did. I then terminated that account and started a new one. With the same bank. If you can follow that course of action, I'd give it a go. Have Patrick go with you too.

If that doesn't work, threaten to sue em. (Although, you pry wouldn't win due to some legality)Or my favorite is to call the local news station that does investigations, kinda like Nebraska's 'Six on your side' where if you don't get answers to your questions, or something that should go in your favor doesn't... They try to get to the heart of the matter, and they put the situation on the news.

I agree with semi234,
talk to the bank in person, explain Your situation and ask what difficulties they have with Your claim.
Try to understand them but ask for a possible way for You to go anyway with it.

Thought about sending You a moose to cheer You up, but have no current address
;-)

Maybe You don't want one anyway?
They eat a lot ! vegetarian only.

sending as much good vibes and power to You as barely possible.

Only bats hang their head down !!

Hope You suceed !!
