Vampires and the Media

I keep a small stack of books in the backseat of my car. Traveling - there is a lot of unexpected downtime with my job... These books come in handy, for example, when your mustang decides to kick-it in SouthBend, Indiana.....

It was the concoction of my car breaking down and this stack of books which kept me from updating my blog this week. When that burly tow-truck driver said, "Gettcho stuff outta the caww, ma'am! Gotwa get home n'see ma wife!" My hands slipped behind the passenger's seat, gripping the first book they touched - Who knew if Motel 6 would have Internet!? Who knew if I was going to have to spend the next five hours watching infomercials?

Ahhh! I grabbed the Twlight novel that my mother bought me for Christmas! Agh! Why oh why did I grab that book!? The first novel was oppressively horrible to get through. The dialogue was unrealistic and the writing was downright pathetic - yet three days later? I find myself purchasing the second book!? The second novel put me through physical pain..... I wanted to throw myself off the cliff with Bella. Drown! Drown! Yet, I could not stop reading them..... while in Milwaukee I picked up the third book, in Cleveland I bought the fourth. The fourth book was actually a really enjoyable read...... Spent most of today, reading the online copy of the fifth book (which was illegally distributed all over the internet, poor Stephanie....)

But taking a step away from Stephanie's books..... what is going on with this whole vampire-phenomenon? Vampires are everywhere! Walmart has plastered Twlight posters and memorabilia all over the walls - all over the bookstores, the Internet, the TV - The guy that checked me out at the bookstore the other day had Edward hair - no one in their right mind should wear their hair like that!? No one!... I feel so lame for falling into all this vampire-commercialism (ha, that is funny... cause commercialism sucks life away..... get it.... ha.... haha... vampire... yea....whatever) Geeze! Someone please pass the depressing, heartbreaking Oprah book.....!!! I cannot take this anymore.... ahhh... vampires!!

Haha... Deanna, yea Veggie Vamps are pretty lame-o.... but it gets even worse because as the books go on and the movies continue - you learn these vegetarian vampires also have morals. No sex before marriage! Hahaha... not even kidding. They are like Mormon Vampires or something....

Created in order to lead all the sinful readers to righteousness!

Make me puke.... blah

LMAO Wow... I'm now going to wait to hear someone come up to me and say they'r ea vampire but they don't drink real blood. Just the synthetic stuff. Diet Blood or something lol.

Very cool photos btw!

Sookie Stackhouse has the vampires that live off of blood in a bottle. Twlight has the vampires that live off of Elk and Mountain Lions... which... in a way... is veggie... sort of... : )

London, you do know that Stephenie Meyer, the author of TWILIGHT, *is* a Mormon, right? :-P

Hey, London, considering how you feel about Twilight, you might get a kick out of my reviews of the books and the movies:

Since livejournal goes oldest-to-newest, you'll want to start with the entry at the bottom of the page.

Somehow I didn't realize I could post my name here without a Blogger account! Oops! Let's try this again...

London, considering how you feel about Twilight, I thought you might get a kick out of my reviews of the books and the movies:

Good to hear from you again. Sorry about the Mustang. Been a rough month for the old war horse. Great shots! You make a great vampire. My friends at work have read both Series, and loved them both. Its a little scary that all this attention is coming out about Vampires. I guess the Question is why now? Are Vampires finally making their move toward World Domination? My advice to everyone, keep the garlic handy.
