Kerouac

“There’s nothing to life but the living of it…hold still man, regain your love of life and go down from this mountain and simply be-be-be the infinite fertilities of the one mind of infinity. make no comments, complaints, criticisms, appraisials, avowals, sayings, shooting stars of thought, just flow, flow, be you all, be your what it is, it is only what it always is…so shut up, live, travel, adventure, bless and don’t be sorry.” - Jack Kerouac

Read some Larry Brown and/or Barry Hannah...great authors in the Beat-styled vein.

Best,

Yeah groovy words, but I just watched a documentary by stand up comedian Rich Hall, about US road movies and did you know that Jack spent the last few years of his life at home with his momma, voting Republican, dissing all his old friends and drinking himself to death.
No doubt as we get older,it gets harder to hold on to liberal dreams and rebellion,I know. I consider myself a socialist, but occassionally find myself nodding in agreement with small minded conservatives. It's not a nice feeling.
The trick is to hold on to who you WERE and not let job, family, finances etc... drag you down.
Anyway, glad you're still in one piece after your nasty smash. And I love that new pic you posted. Feels earthy and natural.Almost groovy...

A little off topic, but reading your tumblr entries thru twitter, you sound as if maybe this blog has had it's day. A bit sad but understandable. You're rooted and happy which perhaps doesn't lend itself so easily to regular updates.
I would hate to think you would give up writing it completely,as it's here, beyond the pix we get to know a little of the inner workings of that interesting mind of yours and as I've said before I think you have a writer in you so a bit practice on here every now and then's gotta help. Or maybe I'm just bloody nosey...

My friends and I cross-countried in a van after reading that, about 25 yrs ago. We were young and impetuous, but that's what young and impetuous people do. Youth is in the mind, anyway. You've got a wonderful spirit, London

I looked for an opening to comment on the allure of bonfires and how they stir up primitive feelings. Just about any fire does, even in a fireplace, which isn't so practical, but somehow very comforting.
I'm always struck by how much we turn to the most basic experiences in life.
