It is hard making friends in a city when you rarely leave the house except to eat food - Signed up as a volunteer for PetsAliveAustin, but the orientation is not until next week - Looked into Meals on Wheels - I am looking into: reading circles, yoga classes, knitting classes, pole dancing classes, pottery - Also, I keep searching for a part-time job that allows me to create my own schedule (but *that* is proving to be completely impossible. I either have to quit modeling or find something to keep me occupied while Pat works his nine hour days)
Anyways - the other day, while perusing Twitter - I discovered a Tweet-up a few miles from my house! Uniting together through the Internet tubes, to drink beer and celebrate life! Whoo! Twitter! - Ha. Twitter Party Definition: Where everyone in the room must have conversations under 140 characters in length!
Invited Patrick and the roommates to attend the Tweet-up but they claimed it was going to be a geek-fest. "Come on, the only kind of people that attend things like that are the people who do not have friends.....They only leave their houses to eat food" Selling point! Count me in! Met so many wonderful local people from the twitter scene - a solar energy technician, a lovely girl who works at the TV station, a few people who work at UT, a guy who lives completely off raw food, even a journalist who writes about plus-sized modeling attended - While I suck at names, I had a blast. Highly recommend that you check out your local get-togethers. Get out of your house, make some new friends, break into a new scene, promote yourself - Even snagged the name of a really talented editor here in Austin that might be able to help me approach writing a book. Life is good.

Darn I knew I was gonna miss talking to someone fantastic. Too bad I was sick. Next time though.
It was great seeing you at the Tweetup. You have to come out to more of them :-)
great thing about being you, Ms London, is that you dont have to remember names, because we all remember yours... ;P
Started following the attendees who's ID's were posted afterward. Hope to "tweet" some great people that have had the pleasure of hanging out with you.
It's my final weekend as a bachelor, you'd like my soon to be wife ;) Just wanted to share. Hugs!
A joke is a joke. Lame or not. Its puts everyone at ease. Getting out & trying is better than holing up & doing nothing. Sometimes its just getting that first step. Sounds like it was a successful night. Have you started the book?
Oh, by the way: Great Pics!
:)
Budee111You go girl! Everybody knows their local Humane Society needs volunteers. Kudos....BIG time. It will pull at your heart strings so be ready for that. I visit my local shelter at least twice a month, walk thru, hand out treats, scratch some heads and call them by name. We all need lovin' and treats when we're away from our "home". You'll also think Perry needs a friend but don't get caught up in the adoption thing. You don't want to be known as the "cat lady". LOL
Hi London,
You are like a VERY hot Yoda, all wise and knowing!! I am really struggling with getting out and about as well. I work 12 hours a day, 4 days on and 5 off, and find myself living like a hermit in my apartment. Having read your blog, I am going to try and make a concious effort to get out more and see people. THANKS!!!
Nice to see things turning around for you. Maybe you could have a Twitterfest sometime?
nice pic w/the red material...
Hey, great pictures! Who's the awesome, super fun, super cool photographer who took them?
