SXSW - Partied like a rockstar! Started the week SO early, sipping free drinks at Moltov on a Thursday night.... Running across the street, to pet a Llama, only to find an open bar, with a Marching Band playing Justin Timberlake. Dancing to Black Joe Lewis at Mohawk with Patrick, feeling cheated that they didn't play a single song I knew..... Open bar and free tacos at Android party ... Made friends with a band from North Carolina, they taught me how to play a washboard. Also made friends with the people at a house party near Lustre Pearl.... dancing to booty shakin tunes on the front lawn and watching Patrick try to Hula Hoop, wearing a fake mustache, doing beer bongs like I was in college.... That night was wild. I lost my Owl Hat AND the back of my Android phone..... Saw so many awesome bands: Sea of Bees, O'death, The Dodos, Fang Island, Felice Brothers... Geographer played the rooftop at Maggie Mae's, I made friends with a journalist from Japan that night, we talked about what happened to his home town, we both cried... That same night, I was chased by security and was *nearly* arrested for stealing an arm full of ciggerrette swag off a table, handing it out in the streets (the cig companies at SXSW make me unruly when I am drunk) - MTV stage, on the parking garage, Patrick and Josh, watching Foster the People... line to get into MTV was four blocks long..... Pat won tickets to Kanye West through DO512 - While it seemed terribly wrong and anti-sxsw, partying at Austin's Power Plant... I couldn't help myself! Jayz showed up as the special guest.... Show ended at 5am... my SXSW concluded as my head hit the pillow at 6am Sunday morning...

If you could see my face right now you'd see the very definition of jealousy come to life
I so wish could have been there, all the great music and movies being played, I even heard they had a documentary on Conan O'Brian that premiered there... I fuckin love that guy, every time I miss something great like SXSW I really start hating my life. Maybe one day I'll work up the nerve to quit my job and just try and do things that I love to do... maybe
BUT, I really am glad you had a good time and I'll try and keep an eye out for another Owl hat(right after I figure out what that is exactly)

ROCK ON!!!
Is it wrong that I'm still worn out from SXSW, and it's Thursday? It was an incredible weekend, but am I the only person that wishes it was still more about no-name bands than the big acts that came to town?
Pat saw Conan... He was at IFC talking about his documentary. That IFC house is amazing - I saw Simon Pegg, IN THE FLESH! Love that guy.... Loved his TV show, Spaced.... made me happy....
And Twelve..... You are not the only person who wishes it was still about the smaller bands.... I feel exactly the same way. I feel like, in five years, all the little bands, won't even have a place to play anymore... they are going to be pushed over to the east side or to another city or something - SXSW will become another ACL.... And while I want to avoid all the free stuff (which is all incredibly commercial and everything SXSW should not be... aka, Pepsi, MTV, Kanye), it is hard to avoid it while you are broke and you want a free bar tab....
And I agree, it IS Thursday... and my body still has not recooperated at all..... HARD week. But fun as hell..... It is basically like Burning Man... an entire week of madness and parties... *whew*
